  Nice spot just by the river overlooking hundreds of swans. Green King pub so a decent selection of beers on tap. Family friendly so that's good or bad depending on who you are.

  Went here on a Saturday evening for dinner with my husband and two children. Well what can I say!!!! It was only 7pm and we were told on arrival that the carvery was finished and we could just have what was left (a few over cooked roast potatoes and some shrivelled vegetables) no thanks, so we ordered from the main boring, limited menu. My husband and I both ordered the hunters chicken - well if you can call it that!!! It was meant to be a whole chicken breast topped with bacon and cheese, what we ordered and what was delivered was such a disappointment. We had half a dried breast each with one tiny sliver of bacon on top, half a plate of iceberg lettuce (meant to be baby gem) and roughly 8 chips each. We both looked at each other in horror. Now we are not big eaters but this is just taking the p***, it was £10 per main, so although you don't expect the earth for this, one would expect an adult portion. The chicken was dry and the bbq sauce was bland. The half a plate of plain lettuce was brown around the edges, inedible and just there to fill the plate. Our youngest daughter had a child's menu meal and her portion was bigger than ours, although this was served in a metal bowl that was chipped so she had to eat from the middle as to avoid the rusty bits. Waited over half an hour for someone to clear the table after we had finished the main, despite the waitress walking past the table on numerous occasions and in the end I had to beckon her over. We decided not to have a dessert as to avoid paying any more money to this establishment but had to wait for our daughters dessert as this was part of a meal deal that had already been paid for. So we asked the waitress for her dessert, half an hour later it still hadn't arrived so had to go to the bar to ask and then we still waited another half an hour for it to arrive. All for a bowl of ice cream with a few broken oreo biscuits on it. Now you would think they were rushed off their feet, but no, about 4 other tables occupied and a few people standing at the bar. Although we are local to this food pub, I will never ever visit again. Please listen to all the other bad reviews as you really need to take heed. Also, just to point out that when I booked the table I asked about the carvery and was told that they served until 9pm but no, all finished by 7ish. Please avoid or dine there at your peril.

  Tried this pub yesterday, we intended to have a meal and a couple of pints. Found the place empty apart from a couple of people at the bar. Ordered two and a half pints of local IPA bitter and was charged £10.25 !!! I questioned this figure but was assured that it was correct... So with our drinks we found a table and checked the menus only to find that the food was also twice the average price for the area, so drank our beers and left, never to return I might add.
